After Ludwig‘s death Otto was proclaimed King, but he never reigned because he really was insane and living in medical confinement until he died in 1916. The other Otto (King Otto of Bavaria, 1848-1916) was the brother of the „dream king“ Ludwig II who died 1886 under mysterious circumstances after having been presumed to be mentally disordered. He had to abdicate 1862 after never having been able to come to terms with his subjects. of Greece, (1815-1867) a Bavarian prince who was made King of Greece 1832 after the country was liberated from turkish supremacy. In Bavaria where i live we had two rather tragic Ottos in the 19/20th century:Otto I. Otto is an old german name (like Otis in english) ![]()
